Campus Life & Facilities

Iqra University campuses have been built to cater to the requirements of a modern and diverse student body. All campuses are air-conditioned/heated and consist of well-furnished classrooms, sophisticated computer labs, and a computerized library with all the latest and relevant reading material. Information Resource Center and Library

The university has a well-equipped Information Resource Center. The Center is based on the concept of an independent resource-based learning that provides networked data, manuscripts and videos as well as books and periodicals.

Furthermore, the university is in the process of developing an Audio-Visual Library that will house sound recordings, charts, maps, topic folders and packs, and a collection of educational video cassettes and CDs.

For students who are preparing to write dissertations or conducting research for higher degrees, the Information Resource Center and the Project Assistance Center (managed by the Computer Science Department) are rich bases for research, training and bibliographic support. Special support and guidance is given to students who are in the process of choosing and/or completing their final projects.

Information Technology Facilities

The facilities at the university are regularly updated to keep pace with the rapid growth in Information Technology. Information on these facilities is available at the Network Administrator's office where support staff is available to help the students. A range of software and hardware is also available, enabling students to produce essays, dissertations and studies. Students have access to powerful PCs running the latest Microsoft Windows Software. Each student has the File Transfer Protocol Facility from their residence which allows them to exchange and transfer files from the university with ease.

Sports and Extra Curricular Facilities

The campus provides excellent opportunities for sports, cultural and other activities. Facilities such as Tennis, Badminton, Basketball courts and a 400-meter walking track enhances the student's social life on campus. As part of future plans, the university intends to build a well-equipped gymnasium with all indoor sports facilities. The lush green lawns provide a suitable venue to hold various extra-curricular activities, which include musical concerts, weekend movie theatre, debates, dramas and various other activities.

The campus has various societies such as Sports Society, Computer Science Society, Hiking Club, MESAL and the Adventure Club. All these societies hold events that are arranged by the students and managed under Faculty supervision. Student committees are also formed to organize sports and cultural events on campus.

The university also stresses on organizing educational trips to large cities such as Lahore and Karachi where students can gain exposure to the functioning of different corporations and businesses. Such trips allow students to study how textbook concepts are applied practically in business.

Cafeteria

A nice, cozy environment, along with well-balanced, value-for-money meals, snacks and beverages are available at the university cafeteria. A Catering Committee comprising of Faculty and Staff members meets regularly to review existing arrangements and develop new ideas for the future.

Career Advice and Counseling

Permanent Faculty members devote some of their time as Career Advisers. These faculty members are available to talk to students about careers at different stages in their program including opportunities for jobs, internships, workshops and seminars. Other advices include resume development, interview and presentation skills and job tracking skills. Besides, providing career advice, faculty members also act as counselors to guide and advise students on non-academic issues. A placement consultant has been hired to perform above activities for Iqra students.

Student Accommodation

Iqra University Islamabad Campus is not providing hostel facility but planning to provide this facility in near future.

Transport Facilities

Iqra University provides separate bus transportation facilities for students in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The buses transport students in the morning, afternoon, evening.

Computer Usage and Ethics

Iqra University makes computer and network resources available for all students. These information technology resources are intended to be used for educational purposes only. Illegal or fraudulent use of the University's information technology resources is a serious violation of University regulations. Legal action can be taken against anyone who violates these policies. Members of the University community are expected to have considerate regard for shared information technology resources, including those that use voice, images, and video to deliver information. Furthermore, students are expected to behave in their use of the technology in a manner consistent with the University's code of conduct.
