Drawing
Drawing is a means for communicating how one sees the world and provides a medium through which one may illustrate thoughts and feelings.Fashion drawing is essential to facilitate the expression of ideas in the work of fashion desigers.
Student will first learn the use of graphite and how to apply the principles and elements of design in two-dimentional plan.Besides working on technical drawing.students study human figures and drapery through sketching.They are encouraged to explore different mediums and develop their own style from the beginning the end of courses.
Pattern Making
The Pattern Making Specialization provides a solid basis on garments structure and construction, fabric cutting and sewing techniques. Learning how basic garments are made enables students to plan and create out of existing structures.
Initially, the course focus is on very simple structured garments. By the end of the program, students achieve knowledge on nearly all-existing garment structures. Students not only work on flat patterns, they also explore creative design through the development of three-dimensional pattern construction.
Textiles
In the Textiles Specialization students learn about history, manufacturing and producing of natural and manmade fibers, understand the construction process of several different kinds of fabrics, their performance characteristics and usage.
They learn how to classify and identify fibers and fabrics, besides exploring different patterns construction, creating new textures and work with textiles forecasting. The program also provide basis on weaving, printmaking, fabric painting, dying techniques and fabric embellishment.
Business
The Business program introduces students to several business areas. They are taught concepts on management, organizational structure, planning and organization, information flow, motivation, leadership, decision-making and their application to the fashion industry.
Students learn how to research and analyze the market, identify target markets, identify and retain current and potential customers, discover retail and merchandising techniques and brand management. They are also introduced to fashion journalism, broadcasting and public relations
Design
In the Design program, students further study and analyze design activities, where emphasis is given on creation and development of ideas. They go through the creation process, from the conception of the idea, moving to the development, refining and construction of items, till the revelation of the final product.
Students also learn how to adjust creation to the industry, develop forecasting skills and adjusting creation to the industry. The design program culminates with the presentation of a fashion show, where students apply all knowledge and skills learnt during the four years of study. This opportunity allows students to market and present their own collection.
